The Evolution of Printing in RestroX

In the past, setting up your restaurant printing could feel as hard as solving a Rubik's cube. Every time you wanted to print a receipt or a KOT, you were interrupted by a browser print confirmation popup, forcing you to manually click "Print" which slowed your operations down during peak hours. You also likely struggled with managing multiple printers; while you could split KOTs between different stations (like the kitchen and the bar) on mobile, you couldn't access that same functionality on the web. This update changes the game for you. By moving to a direct-printing bridge, you can now skip the popups and enjoy seamless, multi-printer KOT splitting directly from your browser, making your workflow faster than ever.

Before you Begin: The Gold Rule

Before touching the software, ensure your hardware is ready.

• Static IP Address: Your printer must have a Static IP address assigned. If it's on a dynamic IP (DHCP), the connection will break every time the router restarts.
• Network Connection: Ensure the printer is plugged into your network via Ethernet or connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your desktop.

Step 1: Configure Printer in RestroX

1. Log in to your RestroX dashboar
2. Navigate to Settings > Printer
3. Click on Add New
4. Fill in the details:
1. Printer Name: Give it a recognizable name (e.g., "Main Bar" or "Kitchen 1").
2. Paper Width: The width of the paper that your printer can print.
3. IP Address: Enter the static IP assigned to your printer
4. Usage Type: Select what this printer will handle - KOT & BOT (Kitchen/Bar Order Tickets) or Bill Receipts
5. Click on Save

Step 2: Install the Bridge (QZ Tray)

Restrox uses QZ Tray to communicate between your web browser and your local hardware.

1. Download QZ Tray: Head to the official QZ Tray website and download the latest version.
2. Install: Run the installer on the computer you will be using to manage RestroX.

Step 3: Security & Certificate Configuration

To allow a secure connection between a web-based app like RestroX and your printer, you need to install a specific certificate file provided by the RestroX team.

1. Download override.crt: Ensure you have the file provided by the RestroX team. Download Here
2. Move the File: Copy the override.crt file into your QZ Tray installation directory based on your operating system
1. Windows: C://Program Files/qz-tray
2. Linux: /opt/qz-tray
3. Mac: Applications/qz-tray

Step 4: Final Connection

1. Launch QZ Tray: Open the application from your programs list of system tray.
2. Check RestroX: Return to your RestroX Printer Settings page.
3. Verify Status: Look at your printer list. You should now see a green Connected Status.
4. Test Print: Right click on the printer and press the Test Print button. Confirm if it worked on not.

Pro Tip: If the status show "Disconnected", try refreshing your browser or restarting the QZ Tray application to refresh the connection.
