Item consumption is how inventory uses your dish-to-stock links: when those dishes sell, raw stock quantities move down by the mapped amounts.

Where you see it

  • Inventory > Stock Item: watch Consumption Rate, Opening, and Closing on each row.
  • Inventory > Consumption: open this sidebar item when you want the consumption-focused view for your restaurant.

What drives consumption

  1. A dish is linked to one or more stock items - How to Link Stock Items to Menu Dishes.
  2. Automatic deduction is in place - How to Set Up Automatic Stock Deduction.
  3. Orders that include those dishes are confirmed in Orders.

How to read the result

After busy service, Closing should be lower for ingredients that sold heavily. Consumption Rate helps you spot fast movers. If numbers look off, verify the dish mapping and unit sizes before adjusting by hand.
