Transferring Restaurant Ownership

Hand restaurant control to a new owner and confirm SuperAdmin on Users Role afterward.

Transferring restaurant ownership moves control of the business to another person so they become the account owner (typically tied to the SuperAdmin role). Use this when the person who manages the restaurant changes.

Before you start

  • The new owner should already be a user on this restaurant (or ready to be invited as staff).
  • Agree who will hold SuperAdmin after the transfer.
  • Optional: keep Restaurant notifications on so you hear about ownership transfers - see Configuring Email and Notification Preferences.

Roles and SuperAdmin

Open Settings, then Users Role. Under Default Roles you will see roles such as Admin, Billing, Kitchen, Server, and SuperAdmin, each with a Total User count.

Ownership transfer is a sensitive account action. Complete it only from the ownership or account controls RestroX shows for your restaurant, and read every confirmation carefully. Afterward, confirm that SuperAdmin on Users Role reflects the new owner.

What happens next

The new owner manages billing, security, and high-level restaurant settings. The previous owner should confirm they no longer need owner-level access. If you only need to clear data or close the restaurant entirely, use the related guides instead.
